Book: Empowering  Vulnerable Populations by Mary Keagan Eamon
Price: $ 59.95

Empowering Vulnerable Populations is the first source book for cognitive-behavioral interventions used with vulnerable populations. The book presents and evaluates a broad range of CB interventions that assist vulnerable populations in attaining empowerment-related goals. The author demonstrates the consistency of CB applications with an empowerment perspective, the importance of CB intervention methods, and the need for continued research on how these methods can assist vulnerable groups in attaining empowerment outcomes.

Features

  • Provides multiple examples of CB interventions that help vulnerable clients achieve empowerment goals
  • Allows readers to easily find appropriate interventions
  • Provides the interventions in enough detail (or refers the reader to relevant resources and information) to carry out the interventions
  • Addresses criticisms regarding alleged contradictions between CB methods and empowerment and social justice
  • Provides additional suggestions for practice and research

"Very well researched and very relevant to social work practice . . . The overview of cognitive-behavioral interventions is concise, clear, and very easy to understand."
